My wife and I enjoy the road trip. Some have been of the single-day variety and plenty have consumed a complete weekend. Still others have covered thousands of kilometres and long driving days.
The vehicles have varied too. We’ve used my Datsun 2000, a rusty old GMC pickup with sketchy tires, a piece-meal Pathfinder and a handful of other steeds. No matter the vehicle or the destination, what all road trips have in common are countless possibilities. There’s the joy of getting wonderfully lost and finding a great spot by accident, learning about the history along the way and getting to meet interesting characters. Driving, to me, also has a calming effect especially if done top-down on a bright sunny day with only an eventual destination in mind and no particular timeline to get there.
